The Buffalo

Blur’s Proprietary High-Speed Indexing Chassis

A long metallic device with rollers, sensors, and electronic components mounted on a blue display stand, with a black curtain background.

Rate: 300 + cpm

Number of Carriers Shown: 35

Index Distance Shown:
160 mm

Nest Repeatability:
10 micron

Built for the long haul with the highest precision, workmanship, and quality. If you put your hand on the chassis, you won’t even know it is running.

Built for Precision and Longevity

The Buffalo is built for the long haul with the highest precision, workmanship, and quality. If you put your hand on the chassis, you won’t even know it is running.

Modular Chassis System

The chassis is modular and can be supplied shorter or longer than the one shown in the photo, according to your needs. There is effectively no limit to the length, and the same 300 cpm speed can comfortably be provided at a conveyor length of 3600 mm, center-to-center.

Station Design or Turnkey Solution

We specialize in high-speed machine design and will gladly design your stations for you, or provide a turnkey solution.

Proprietary High-Speed Design

There are more than a dozen proprietary innovations in the design and control of The Buffalo. It is servo-driven, without mechanical indexers, and a wide variety of indexing distances are available. Nests can be added and removed with no disassembly beyond removal of the accordion dustcovers. The indexing distance can be changed with a touch of a button at the HMI.

The Bald Eagle

Blur’s Proprietary, thoroughly innovative, 4-axis Manipulator

  • The Bald Eagle is due to hit the market in 2026. It is a 4-axis manipulator with the same functionality as a SCARA robot, though it is not a SCARA. In any case, it is much faster. The end effector accelerates at rates higher than 30 G’s.

  • The Bald Eagle is designed to be affixed directly to The Buffalo as an assembly station. It will perform pick and place operations, and other operations, very comfortably at 300 cpm, over a suitably large workspace (D=200mm, z=60 mm). There are no singularities within this workspace. The design of The Bald Eagle is completely unique.

  • The Bald Eagle is so fast that at a high indexing rate (240 cpm) it can service 2 nests during one index dwell, with the appropriate end effector. That is, it can pick from a feedtrack and place in Nest 23, for example, then pick from a second feedtrack and place in Nest 24.

  • Machine designers will be able to purchase The Buffalo chassis according to their specifications, and purchase The Bald Eagle for many of the assembly stations. Blur Machine Laboratory will gladly assist with Nest tooling, End Effector tooling, and other high-speed stations for which The Bald Eagle is not suited. Alternatively, Blur will gladly provide a turnkey solution for your factory.

  • 200mm circular workspace, no singularities

  • 570 cpm (200mm move, over and back, up and down 40mm)

There is nothing like this anywhere in the world!
